Meeting 1
Introduction

Introduction

This week participants need 3 X 5 cards to write their ideas and hand in to you.

prompt

Prompt

If our school were to create our very own Unity Week, for which we created activities for students and staff that would reinforce a sense of belonging, what is one activity you think might work?

Connecting

Let them continue to talk informally while last you collect the cards during this last minute. Assign someone to create a list of ideas that were generated. Send this list out via email to everyone. You might have those that had more than one similar idea grouped together as “two or more suggested …”

If you have more ideas about this, let’s all mull over how we might create a school-wide activity to reinforce unity.

Meeting 2

Today we’re going to talk about school discipline. It’s beneficial to use the 5 Radical Minute opening for all discipline issues — listening to the student first.

Staff members will each need a 3×5 card for next week’s meeting.

Meeting 4
Introduction

Introduction

Today we’re continuing with the discipline theme. Hand out 3×5 cards to everyone.

prompt

Prompt

With your time today, identify those students who are least well served by our discipline procedures, those who we aren’t reaching.  What is one idea you have that might reach some of them?

Connecting

Invite everyone to talk informally as the cards are passed in.

challenge

This time just thank them for their participation.

This is the end of the discipline theme prompt series. Consider how you handle discipline, whether your teachers start by listening first, and whether there are steps you might take to enhance your discipline procedures.

tip

Prepare

For the next meeting, plan to show a really fun three-minute video or see if someone on staff would write a hilarious parody about your school sung to a familiar tune or prepare something you think will give everyone a good, healthy laugh.
